The shovel hit the dirt with a metallic ting.
‘We’ve got something!’ said the archaeologist.
Her companion flexed their hands. ‘Give me a moment.’
They spoke distorted words and plunged red-glowing hands into the dirt.
A screeching creature of bony wings and saurian beak burst from the soil then preened its non-existent feathers.
The archaeologist beamed. ‘Do you know how long it would have taken to uncover without you?’
The other smiled. ‘We all have our talents.’
